This final table was the culmination of a 13 month event at the Las Vegas Hilton, with monthly qualifying events available to anyone willing to ante up the $1000 entry fee. In April 2003, the final event was held, with 200 qualifiers from previous months battling for the $1 million first place prize.
The format of the final table was 28 hands, with betting limits from $100 to $5000. Starting bankrolls were $5000, and the game was dealt face-up from a 6-deck shoe. The dealer hits soft 17, double after split was allowed, and late surrender was allowed. (Million II, May 2003 to May 2004, uses these same rules, except the maximum bet has been lowered to $2500.)
Finalists were Blair Rodman, Edward Rhoades, James Pittman, Robert Zale, Ken Einiger, Nicholas Lopes, Inese Conklin.
